NESTLE JAPAN KITKAT WITH VEGETABLE JUICE

Yes, the summer is almost over, but the silly season for news that may be stranger than fiction appears to know no limits.

I am sure NestlĂ©’s KitKat chocolate wafer bar range could easily extend to biscuits, cakes, ice creams and chews – even cereals, milk shakes, desserts and spreads. But I would never have anticipated one containing vegetable juice.

Yet a new apple-carrot flavoured wafer bar coated in white chocolate was launched on 24th August. I’ll look forward to hearing from anyone who has tried it. That is, anyone out there who’s brave enough.

Hello Richard:

I had an opportunity to try the apple-carrot KitKat the other day (I'm in Japan). And I have to say, the taste was very good. More apple than vegetable, actually, so it was quite tasty. Not strange at all. Since KitKat comes out in all sorts of flavours in Japan I think that Japanese consumers expect to see new KitKat offerings like this.

I also tried another new KitKat product which incorporates the taste of a Japanese traditional sweet called Kinako Ohagi. That was not quite as natural a taste combination for me, but perhaps for Japanese consumers it is good. My colleague blogged about that product at our website here:
