35 acquisitions in August

There was little sign of let up on food and drink transactions in August, with 35 recorded for bevblog.net.

Three were over $1,000 million:

  • Heineken’s $4,300 million bid for control of Asia Pacific Breweries
  • MBK Partners paying $1,100 million for 31% of South Korean equipment supplier Coway and
  • Orkla buying fellow Norwegian business Rieber for €835 million.

8 of the deals were in general food, 6 in alcohol, 5 in dairy, 5 in soft drinks and 4 in ingredients.

A total of 21 countries were involved, with the United States active in 17 of the transfers, followed by Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on 4 each.
