30 acquisitions over $1 billion in 2013

Out of 481 food and drink transactions recorded on the bevblog.net acquisitions database for 2013, 30 involved sums over US $1 billion, more than the 26 seen in 2012, which was double the number for 2011.

4 of these had a US focus, 4 were in Europe and 2 were by Asian companies.  4 were for beverages, 3 for food, 2 in ingredients and 1 in dairy.

The combined value of these 10 was $97 billion.  The 30 over $1 billion totalled $134 billion, 54% more than the 26 over $1 billion in 2012 at $87 billion.
