European food reformulation plan

Another initiative to combat obesity. Largely unnoticed by the media and most food producers.

It may well end up ignored or overtaken like so many other political compromises. But it might just prove more significant this time.

It’s called the “Roadmap for Action on Food Product Improvement”. It involves commitments to reduce levels of salt, saturated fat and added sugars. It is backed by the European Union and the food industry.

Although voluntary, there will be structure, targets and scrutiny.

Hopefully, another piece of the jigsaw that fits.
